Pictured in the larger group photo are the students attending the State Conference.

On April 10t and 11th 48 students for the Milbank HOSA Chapter traveled to Sioux Falls to participate and compete alongside over 1400 other HOSA members from across the state in this year's SD HOSA State Leadership Conference.  The Conference was held at the Sanford Pentagon, USD School of Medicine, USD Sioux Falls, and Southeast Technical College.  Attending SD HOSA's State Leadership Conference provides students with the learning opportunities, competitions, academic symposiums, and educational tours needed to progress toward a future health career. Students compete for awards and scholarships with an opportunity to earn their way to HOSA's International Leadership Conference.

14 of our Milbank HOSA students placed in the top 3 in their events and punched their ticket to the International Leadership Conference in Nashville, TN, this summer! This is Milbank's largest group to qualify ever!  Gemma Street and Ella Sandvig also received scholarships, our Chapter won 1st place for our National Service Project Award (Be the Match fundraiser), we won a bronze level award for our Barbara James Service project (Kimber Downes fundraiser), and Mrs. Fischer was awarded Outstanding Local Chapter Advisor!  This was an amazing end to an incredible two days!  Our Chapter has seen growth every year since its inception in 2015.  I am beyond proud of the students' showmanship and how they represented Milbank.  I am also extremely honored to have received this year's award for Outstanding Local Chapter Advisor.  The students really are the ones who deserve the credit. I am just here to help guide them on their path. HOSA not only helps build leadership skills and knowledge of the health care field but also helps instill the importance of giving back with service projects.
